BFT Gate Parts & Welding in Los Angeles: What to Know First

We repair and replace BFT gate hardware across Los Angeles, from seized hinge barrels on rusted steel posts to cracked welds on cantilever rails. Most BFT parts and welding jobs run between $180 and $650, and we give you the written price before any work starts. If your BFT gate is binding, drooping, or the welds are failing, call (213) 674-2473 and a live person answers, day or night.

This page is for BFT owners who need a hinge replaced, a post re-set, a rail welded, or a roller swapped, and who want the price on paper before a tool comes off the truck. We’re an independent BFT service provider, not an authorized dealer, which means we stock what works and we don’t steer you toward a new operator when the old one still has years left.

How BFT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

BFT makes solid operators, but the metal around them takes a beating in Los Angeles. Coastal moisture, canyon dust, and the constant cycle of morning damp followed by afternoon heat does odd things to steel and aluminum. Here’s what we see on BFT gates in this city, and what we do about it.

  • Hinge barrel seizure on older BFT swing gates. The Deimos and Rigel swing arms push a lot of torque through the hinge line, and when the hinge pins lose grease or take on grit, the barrel galls against the pin. The gate still moves, but the motor runs hotter and the limit switches fight the drag. We pull the hinge, ream the barrel if it’s salvageable, or weld in a new leaf with fresh bushings. The fix lasts because we address why it seized, not just the fact that it did.
  • Cracked weld at the rack or chain mount on BFT sliding gates. BFT sliding operators, especially the Aries and Max lines, drive a rack bolted or welded to the gate frame. On heavier Los Angeles estate gates, a weld that cracked at the rack mount lets the pinion slip a tooth, and then the gate jerks mid-travel. We grind the old bead, preheat the steel, and weld with a root pass that actually penetrates, then photograph the finished weld before we leave.
  • Post deflection on BFT Icaro barriers. The Icaro is a parking barrier, but we see plenty of them on Los Angeles condo lots and commercial driveways. When the post gets clipped repeatedly by a car, the steel doesn’t bend; it leans at the base plate. We cut the old welds, true the post on a level bed, and re-weld with gusset plates so the next bump doesn’t re-book the same job.
  • Roller and track wear on BFT Thalia and Phobos slide gates. Gate rollers are wear parts, and BFT slide gates that run a dozen or two cycles a day chew through nylon rollers faster than most manufacturers publish. The tell is a persistent groaning noise and steel chips on the track. We replace the roller carrier, inspect the rail for flat spots, and if the track is worn, we weld in a new section rather than letting the gate eat another set of rollers in a year.
  • Latch failure at the limit stop on swing gates. BFT swing systems rely on a mechanical latch to hold the gate at the closed limit, and that latch gets adjusted wrong more than it gets replaced. When the latch plate is misaligned by even a quarter inch, the gate slams the stop and the limit switch reads it as closed when it’s actually bouncing back. We reset the latch, align the stop, and photograph the limit switch position so the next adjustment isn’t a replay of the last one.

Our BFT Gate Parts & Welding Process

Every BFT job we run follows the same sequence, whether it’s a hinge replacement in Silver Lake or a rail reweld in Brentwood. It’s the same process we’ve run since 2014, and it works because it leaves a record.

  1. 1
You call, we answer. A live person takes your call 24/7, asks what the gate is doing, and schedules a time that works. No voicemail, no callback queue.
  2. 2
We diagnose on site. The technician inspects the gate, the operator, and the mounting hardware. We measure, we test, and we name what we found. If your BFT gate is bottoming out because the limit switch is set 12 degrees past travel, you’ll hear those words, not a vague “it’s out of adjustment.”
  3. 3
We write the price. Before any work begins, you get a written quote with the exact parts and labor, in dollars. Under Haven Standard Clause 1, the writing comes first. No verbal estimate, no handshake, no surprise invoice at the end.
  4. 4
We repair or weld. We use OEM BFT parts when they’re available and priced sanely. When an OEM part has a two-week lead time and a quality aftermarket equivalent is in the truck, we tell you both options and let you pick. For welding, we clean the joint, preheat if the steel requires it, and run a proper bead, not a scraped-in patch.
  5. 5
We test under load. The gate cycles full open, full close, and mid-travel stop. We trip the photo-eye, test the safety edge if it’s a BFT model with obstruction detection, and confirm the operator isn’t pulling more current than the nameplate says.
  6. 6
You get the record. Every visit ends with a photo log of what we found, what we adjusted, and what we installed, plus the part numbers in writing. That’s Clause 4: Evidence on every job, at no additional charge.

Name what you found, name what it costs, name what you left behind. That’s the entire job, every time.

What BFT Gate Parts & Welding Costs in Los Angeles

Prices in Los Angeles run higher than the national average because the metal is fighting harder here: coastal salt, desert dust, and rail steel that expands and contracts through a 40-degree daily swing. Here’s what typical BFT parts and welding work costs in this market:

Job Typical Cost
Single hinge replacement (swing gate) $180 - $320
Hinge barrel ream & rebush, both hinges $260 - $480
Post re-set with concrete (single post) $350 - $700
Weld repair, rack or chain mount $220 - $450
Rail section weld-in (per foot) $90 - $160
Roller carrier replacement (pair) $150 - $340
Latch & limit stop realignment $120 - $260

The price moves based on access, how heavy the gate is, and whether the steel needs preheating before we weld. You’ll know the exact number before we start, in writing, and that number doesn’t change unless we find something we couldn’t see until we opened it up, at which point we stop and re-write the quote before going further. Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Los Angeles for BFT Work

We’re not the only gate company in Los Angeles, and we don’t pretend to be. What we do is show our work.
